Pioneering spirit lives on - Jane Faulkner on Cullen's 40th anniversary
Jane Faulkner has written of Cullen's 40th anniversary milestone in this week's AGE.
Diana Madeline (the cabernet is named in her honour) and husband Kevin John (the chardonnay is named in his honour), a highly respected doctor, planted a minuscule patch of trial vines in 1966 on their 40-hectare property in Wilyabrup, Margaret River. Their daughter Vanya is now in charge of crafting some of the finest wines to come out of Australia, let alone Margaret River.
It is of Vanya's opinion that, "considering winemaking goes back thousands of years, 40 seems like nothing,''. But you have to start somewhere and it's good to acknowledge milestones in your history.''
We'd like to congratulate Vanya and her team on their work so far and look
forward to enjoying their meticulously and beautifully crafted wines for
many more years to come.
