Le Pigeoulet des Brunier 2007
The Le Pigeoulet des Brunier is a red blend consisting of Grenache Noir (80%), Syrah (10%), Carignan (5%), and Cinsault (5%). The fruit is sourced from 7.5 acres on the east bank of the Rhône, 15km north of Avignon and 17.5 acres in the municipality of Caromb, in the Rhone Valley.
The grapes are picked by hand and destemmed, before undergoing 12-15 days vinification in temperature-controlled concrete vats. Pneumatic pressing follows, then systematic malolactic fermentation and maturation in vats for 6 months, and in foudres (a large cask, generally oak) for a further 6 months before being bottled after slight filtration.
This wine offers instant drinking pleasure. It is tender, fresh and fruit driven with dark fruits dominant, and is a good match for all kinds of food, especially chicken, duck and fungi.
